New Central Library is turning into a giant escape room today

Feb 1 2019, 11:56 am

You may have found your way out of a few escape rooms in your day, but this is another matter entirely.

Locked Library is an event that will see teams of contestants entering New Central Library on February 1, trying to escape the newly-opened building within the allotted time.

This will be the first time that Locked Library will be held at New Central Library, and past events have seen upwards of 1,000 people trying to work their way out of the old Central Library as part of Beakerhead.

The event is expected to last up to two hours and will run from 7:30 to 9:30 pm — giving attendees a chance to experience the architecturally stunning building after hours.

Tickets are $42 a head, and groups can register together to ensure they are on the same clue-hunting squad — or, if you’re buying separately, but know the names of the team members you’d like to join, you are asked to write their names into the special instructions section of the shopping cart.

All proceeds go towards supporting the Calgary Public Library.
