In a Thursday press conference, Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw said that Alberta has seen 162 new known cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

This brings the province’s known total to 2,158.

She also stated that the province had seen two deaths over the past 24 hours: a man in his 70s in Calgary and a woman in her 80s in the north zone.

A total of 2,779 tests were completed in Alberta over the past 24 hours.

Unfortunately, the ministry experienced an outage at the data centre that shut down the feed from the provincial lab on Wednesday, so details on the new cases were not available for yesterday’s or today’s update.

On Thursday, Hinshaw said that the problem stemmed from a small electrical fire, and that crews were still working to return service. She hopes that case details will become available by Friday’s update.
