New Baby Penguin at the Calgary Zoo

Dec 19 2017, 2:29 am

The Calgary Zoo is proud to announce the hatching of their new Humboldt penguin, on their Facebook page.

The baby penguin is the Calgary Zoo’s first Humboldt chick, which makes this hatching even more special. The baby Penguin arrived on June 26, 2015 to join with the penguin colony located in the Penguin Plunge.

The first time parents of the baby penguin are Rein and Javier. The Zoo reports that the new mom and dad are taking good care of their baby chick.

The Calgary Zoo says they waited to release any news about the chick as chicks tend to stay in their burrows for the first month making it difficult to see them. During this time it is crucial that the chick bonds with its parents and also to ensure that the chick is healthy.

Now you can go to the Calgary Zoo and maybe catch a glimpse at the newest penguin member.
