One death, 50 new cases of coronavirus confirmed in Alberta

In a Thursday press conference, Alberta Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw said the province has seen 50 new known cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

This brings the province’s known total to 6,457.

She noted that there has been one new death in the province related to coronavirus — a resident of a continuing care centre in Calgary.

Hinshaw also noted that there are currently 65 cases in hospital, and 10 in ICU.

Today’s 50 new cases were detected as a result of 4,816 tests being carried out over the past 24 hours.

There are a total of 1oo active cases at continuing care centres throughout the province, while 569 people have recovered at these outbreaks.
