'It was so sweet': Michael Buble shares touching letter from late Dolly Parton
Country icon Dolly Parton recently passed, and millions of people mourned her death, praising her for her authentic and philanthropic ways, and that includes Michael Buble.
Local boy Buble recently shared a post about Parton on Instagram, describing a letter he had once received from the country icon.
“Dolly once wrote me a letter asking if I’d listen to a song she’d written and consider singing it with her,” Buble shared.
“It was so sweet, gracious, and unbelievably humble.”
Buble said that everyone seems to have their own Parton story, and called her a “generational talent.”
“If there’s one person in this business I could choose to emulate, it would be her. Humble, generous, clever, kind, and insanely funny. When God made Dolly, He broke the mold,” Buble added.
He shared that he feels lucky that their paths crossed and that “this one really hurts.”
Parton’s letter begins, “First of all, let me say that I think you are an incredibly talented man and seem to be a great guy as well. I know you have a lot of fans in my circle, as well as worldwide, so congratulations on that.”
She shared that she would understand if Buble said no.
In his post, Buble also confessed that he never even listened to the song before agreeing.
She signed off on the letter, saying, “With musical love for you.”
The pair’s collab, “Cuddle Up, Cozy Down Christmas,” was released in October 2020, just in time for the holiday season.
Many celebrities responded to Buble’s post, including Shawn Desman and Jann Arden, who both wrote, “incredible.”
Funny man Rob Schneider also responded, saying, “I know you are a humble young man, but your music has already gone around the world and touched the lives of so many people. I wish you years of more success and happiness for you and your gorgeous family.”
Following Parton’s death, there have been more notable deaths, including Rocky Horror Picture Show and Home Alone 2 star Tim Curry, as well as the iconic voice of Optimus Prime, Peter Cullen.
