Meet Eat Compete: Board games event brings Calgarians together

Dec 19 2017, 11:12 am

Calgarians looking for a unique and fun way to meet new people can now do so on a regular basis, thanks to Calgary-based couple Mike Procee and Jenna Gaetz (the duo who run the YYC blog A Couple of Couples). They have teamed up with Connect More to bring a new type of event to the city.

Using board games to connect people face to face, Procee, Gaetz, and Connect More have created Meet. Eat. Compete., a networking soiree where people literally turn up to do just that, meet, eat, and compete.

Attendees to these monthly collaborative events, which are held on the fourth Thursday of every month at Nicastro’s Public House, are encouraged to unplug and connect more with their follow peers over dinner, drinks, and socially interactive modern board games.

Game board masters are on-hand to help select and teach games that have been chosen for their high levels of social interaction. The mobile game library boasts 200 plus games to choose from, so there is something for all tastes and preferences.

The first Meet. Eat. Compete. was held on October 22, 2015. Approximately 90 Calgarian bloggers, social media influencers, and young professionals were in attendance. Due to the overwhelming success and positive response of the event they hosted another, followed by another, and now the organizers have a lineup of events for the rest of the year.
