Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) has reported two new cases of measles, in addition to the 10 cases that were confirmed last Friday.
The health authority announced that in both incidents, the people acquired their infection while travelling out of the country. Both cases are unrelated to the outbreak involving Vancouver schools.
As of today, there are 2 new measles cases, not related to the outbreak involving the schools. The 2 people got the infection while traveling. We will have more information later this afternoon.

One of the individuals was travelling through Richmond and Vancouver International Airport (YVR) en route to Edmonton. The other lives in the VCH region and was on a flight from Manila, Philippines to Vancouver.
The possible exposure in Edmonton prompted a health warning from Alberta Health Services.

Anyone who was at any of the locations listed is asked to monitor themselves for symptoms for 21 days after the date of exposure.
Symptoms to watch for include fever, cough, runny nose, and red eyes, as well as a rash that begins on the face and spreads to the chest.
Anyone who develops symptoms is asked to contact their health care provider so that necessary precautions can be taken.
TransLink’s Canada Line, a McDonald’s in Squamish, and Scandinave Spa in Whistler have all been listed as public spaces where individuals may have been exposed to measles.
