This ends a months-long process that caused a ton of noise in the Edmonton market. Rumours swirled about McDavid potentially leaving the Oilers in free agency next summer, and that fear grew with every passing day.
With the season just two days away for the Oilers, it seemed that McDavid wanted to silence the noise and get back to work.
