Canadian tennis teen sensation Vicky Mboko could make more money this week than rest of her career combined

It’s been quite a whirlwind of a week in Montreal for 18-year-old Canadian tennis star Vicky Mboko.

After defeating World No. 2 Coco Gauff in the Round of 16 and Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in the quarterfinals of the National Bank Open, Mboko has officially placed her stake as the next big thing in Canadian tennis.

Mboko has seen a massive rise in the WTA rankings this year and is slated to enter at least the top 50 in the world rankings after her big week on home soil.

But it’s not just her stock that’s rising: it’s also the dollars in her bank account.

So far, Mboko has earned US$458,001 in her career, US$396,293 of which has come in 2025.

She picked up US$181,898 for making it to the Round of 32 at the French Open, and US$93,000 for making it to the round of 64 at Wimbledon, after also winning three qualifying matches at each. She’ll likely have a chance for another decent payday starting later this month at the US Open.

But given how deep her run has already been at this year’s National Bank Open, there’s a chance that Mboko makes more money in this one tournament alone than the rest of her career combined.

How much will Mboko make in Montreal?

Here’s the full breakdown of the women’s prize money at the National Bank Open for 2025:

  • Winner: US$752,275
  • Finalist: US$391,600
  • Semifinalist: US$206,100
  • Quarterfinalist: US$107,000
  • Round of 16: US$56,703
  • Round of 32: US$33,000
  • Round of 64: US$19,705
  • First round: US$12,770

So far, Mboko has already guaranteed a payday of at least US$206,100, which isn’t exactly bad for someone who will only be turning 19 later this month. “Prize money” is a bit of a misnomer, though: it’s also used for players to cover costs such as travel, coaching, and training, so it isn’t necessarily just a straight profit right back into their accounts.

Having made the semifinals and being slated for a match against Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina, Mboko faces another tough test on Tuesday night at Montreal’s IGA Stadium.

But with the support of the home crowd (and a country watching coast-to-coast) behind her, perhaps she’ll be able to string together a few more victories to bring home the NBO title, and a decent payday to boot.
