The sights, sounds and tastes of New Orleans are coming to Calgary at this year’s free Marda Gras Street Festival in August.

Some 35,000 festivalgoers are expected at the family-friendly Marda Gras, which will take place on Sunday, August 14 at Marda Loop, along 33rd and 34th avenues SW.

As well as a pet pageant and a classic car “show and shine,” there will also be patio extensions, food trucks and live entertainment on four different stages,

Performers on the “Fixin’ To Dance” stage include the Calgary Zumba Crew, Jumping Camel Belly Dance and Woezo African Music & Dance Theatre.

Meanwhile, the Bourbon Street main stage, Cajun Spice side stage and Voodoo stage will feature eclectic music shows, including surf rock, funky afrobeat and vintage rockabilly.

Headliners include Calgary’s “newest musical juggernaut” Meta Mofo, singer-songwriters Bebo Grove, and Albertan soulful blues duo Jo – Jo O’ and the Woods.
