Becca Braconnier

Becca Braconnier is no stranger to a busy schedule. As a mother of four, pursuing a career in business administration meant balancing school with her existing schedule. With MaKami, she was able to do her coursework in the mornings while her kids were at school, and could even squeeze in a few extra hours during naptime from time to time.

As for her in-class workshops, those were something of a treat.

“The MaKami staff are so warm and welcoming, and they always have snacks for students coming in,” Becca explains to Daily Hive. “It wasn’t just, ‘Oh, I have to go sit in a lesson today.’ It was, ‘I get to go learn, have snacks, and — not to say I need a break from my kids — get a break from my kids.’”

As Becca describes it, the business administration program gives students a well-rounded base, from introductory learning to an in-depth understanding and knowledge of day-to-day job requirements. From start to finish, her studies seemed to pass in the blink of an eye.

“It felt like one day I was registering and seeing if I could even qualify for classes, and then before I knew it, class had started, and then before I knew it, I was done.”

Now employed as an administrative assistant, Becca found the practicum to be the most helpful element of her MaKami education.

“I got to be in an actual office and do actual receptionist work, and now I can put that on my resume,” she says. “I also found that I really love doing receptionist work, and can do more than what I thought I was capable of.”

Although Becca was initially nervous that she’d be the oldest student, she soon found herself learning alongside students of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life. She also discovered that the teachers were very helpful when it came to providing student support and grading assignments.
