Inglewood is the destination for live music in Calgary

Looking to get deeper into the Calgary’s local music scene? To get out of the house, and check out tons of different artists and music genres’?

Grab some friends and head down to Inglewood for live music, drinks, and good food. There are concerts happening every night.

Inglewood is Calgary’s oldest neighbourhood, having been established in the mid 1870’s. Ninth Avenue (formally Atlantic Avenue) was developed as an extension of Fort Calgary, and became Calgary’s first main street.

There are a few places to go in Inglewood that will quickly become your new local hangout.

The Blues Can

Located at 1429 9 Avenue SE, The Blues Can offers many varieties of different live shows every night. The bar is set up in a nice cozy warm environment, a local community favourite for sure. The Blues Can offers a variety of blues, jazz, and swing music depending on the night.

Every evening fills up quick and on top of the live performances, the menu at the Blues Can is wonderful, with a wide assortment good beers on tap.

Gravity Espresso & Wine Bar

Located at 909 10 Street SE, Gravity hosts local and touring musical talent on a weekly basis. Once or twice a month they also host a free singer songwriter showcase to expose new talent to the community. Friday and Saturday evenings see larger acts on stage with a cover charge that goes towards supporting the talent that performs.

Ironwood Stage and Grill

Located at 1229 9 Avenue SE, The Ironwood Stage & Grill is a large venue with a very cool seating plan around the main stage. Like the Blues Can, the Ironwood offers an eclectic variety of many different performers every night. Acts have included the Fugitives, and many other folk, indie, and jazz bands.

The Ironwood provides a musical experience like no other where the community really comes together, and celebrates good live music. The Ironwood also has a delicious menu, and a delightful bar.

Seating fills up fast for both these entities so you have to call ahead and make reservations. Most shows start at 8pm so plan to head down early.

Lolita’s Lounge

Located at 1413 9 Avenue SE, Lolita’s Lounge features some of Calgary’s most unique and enjoyable entertainment. From comedians to songwriters, this 1940s-style venue is the perfect setting for performers to connect with their audience.
