Dec 19 2017, 10:54 am

The Little Prince is considered a children’s book, but with its vibrant illustrations and simple language, makes several profound observations about life and human nature. That’s why this musical adaptation by Nicholas Lloyd Webber and James D. Reid of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s beloved novella will be the perfect show to attend this winter for all ages.

The world premiere of The Little Prince – The Musical will be presented by Theatre Calgary, in association with London’s Lamplighter Drama, from January 19 to February 28, 2016.

The Little Prince (Le Petit Prince in its native French) was written by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and was published in 1943. The novella has now become the third most translated book in the world.

This beloved tale involves a stranded pilot, who crashes in the Sahara Desert, only to be greeted by a young prince fallen to Earth from a tiny asteroid. The story is philosophical and includes social criticism, remarking on the strangeness of the adult world, and in many cases, has been referred to as an allegory of Saint-Exupéry’s own life.
