If seeing snow in the forecast has you thinking about dusting off your ski or snowboard equipment and hitting the slopes, a new ranking just put a gorgeous Alberta ski destination among the best on the continent.

Condé Nast Traveller has unveiled its 2026 Readers’ Choice Awards, highlighting readers’ top picks around the world, from luxury resorts to favourite cities to — you guessed it — ski resorts.

The publication highlighted 30 ski resorts across Europe and North America, splitting the ranking into a top 15 for each continent.

“The best ski resorts in the world are Narnia-esque playgrounds where runs are mastered, and memories are made,” it said. “Little ones approach their first lessons with confidence as parents watch on proudly, while groups of friends whizz out of glitzy ski-in-ski-out addresses with their eyes set on the prize of a late afternoon of fizzy après and DJ sets.”

And among the list of North America’s best was Lake Louise. With a score of 84.68, the Alberta destination came in 15th place and was the only one in the province to make the list.

Other Canadian ski resorts to land on the North American ranking included Mount Washington (ninth), Silver Star Mountain (fifth), and Whistler Backcomb (fourth), all located in B.C. Deer Valley, Utah, was North America’s best with a score of 97.78.

Zermatt, Switzerland, topped the European ranking with a score of 98.33, followed by Verbier, Switzerland and Méribel, France.

While Lake Louise is certainly an ideal place to ski, the destination has been getting international attention for all kinds of things lately.

Explore, an adventure travel company, recently used eye-tracking technology to measure how visually striking 52 cycling routes appeared to people, and the Bow Valley Parkway came out on top.

The 51-kilometre stretch between Banff and Lake Louise, known for its mountain views and wildlife-spotting opportunities, was ranked as the world’s most beautiful. The Bow Valley Parkway scored 97 out of 100, putting it three points ahead of Australia’s Great Ocean Road, which came in second.

In June, Lake Louise also appeared on a list of Canada’s cleanest lakes published by geography outlet World Atlas.
