A quiet basketball court made for some teary moments on Sunday as the Toronto Raptors and San Antonio Spurs started off their game by running out consecutive shot clocks in honour of Kobe Bryant.

Each team dribbled out the 24-second shot clock — Bryant’s number — to a standing ovation and “Kobe” chants.

Originally number eight, Bryant wore number 24 from 2007 to 2016.

Kobe Bryant died at the age of 41 in a helicopter crash in California on Sunday.

Bryant was travelling in his private helicopter with three others, TMZ reports. LA Country Sheriffs confirmed there were five fatalities in the crash, though victims have not been publicly identified.

TMZ first reported that Bryant was amongst those in the helicopter when it crashed around 10 am. ESPN, ABC, the LA Times, and Variety have also now confirmed Bryant was on the helicopter.
