Christmas is still more than seven weeks away, but Calgary Flames players were in a gift-giving mood on Wednesday.
That’s because Nazem Kadri is playing his 1,000th NHL game.
Speaking with reporters at the Saddledome, Kadri’s Flames teammate Jonathan Huberdeau detailed the gift exchange that took place, as is customary for players that hit this special milestone. Kadri is set to become the 407th player to appear in at least 1,000 games in his career.
“It’s his day. That’s what it’s all about,” Huberdeau said. “He’s been a good guy, handing some gifts to everyone. We got him a nice gift as well.”
Flames players gifted Kadri a diamond-encrusted necklace and bracelet, with each team that he’s played for on it, per Sportsnet’s Eric Francis.
For his 1,000th game tonight, Flames players gave Kadri a diamond-encrusted necklace and bracelet with every team he’s played on.
Kadri returned the favour and gave every player a customized Scotty Cameron putter with each players’ number and an inscription on it.

Kadri, 35, played 561 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs and 178 games with the Colorado Avalanche before signing with Calgary in 2022.
In turn, Kadri gave his teammates custom golf putters with each player’s number and an inscription on it.
“That’s a pretty good gift actually,” Huberdeau said. “It’s weird that you have to give a gift… But it’s a good touch by Naz.”
