2016 has been dubbed as the year of music for the City of Calgary and the biggest event to take place will be the 2016 JUNO Awards at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Calgary will also host JUNO Week, a celebration of Canada’s best musical talent – from March 28 to April 3.

“The unparalleled enthusiasm and famous hospitality of Calgarians make our city the ultimate host for Canada’s Music Awards,” said Mayor Naheed Nenshi. “Calgary’s depth of musical talent and passionate fans are exactly what makes Canadian music great, and we’re excited for what’s in store as we celebrate the 45th annual JUNO Awards and the Year of Music.”

It’s been a great year for Canadian music as we owned the rap, R&B, and pop charts. Along with a growing Indie and electronic music scene, it seems Canadian musicians are finally getting recognition they deserve.

Brampton, Ontario native and breakout pop-R&B artist Alessia Cara is the first performer confirmed to captivate the JUNO crowd.
