Jarome Iginla traded to LA Kings on deadline day

Jarome Iginla is leaving Colorado, but he won’t be coming back to Calgary on trade deadline day in the NHL.

The Avalanche, the worst team in the league, have dealt the 39-year-old future Hall of Famer to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for a conditional fourth round draft pick in 2018.

“I’m very excited, I really appreciate Joe Sakic giving me a chance, and the LA Kings giving me a chance to be a part of it,” Iginla told TSN’s James Duthie.

The Kings are currently outside of a playoff spot, but could contend for the Stanley Cup with the return of Jonathan Quick.

While Iginla won’t be returning to the Flames, he will be reunited with his former coach in Calgary, Darryl Sutter.
