New shopping feature will change the way Canadians use Instagram

Last year, Instagram launched a new feature in the United States that allowed users to shop while scrolling through their feed.

Businesses in the US would be able to tag their products so that users could scroll, tap, and explore through the various pictures on their page.

Now, that feature has come to Canada, as well as several other countries, giving users the ability to shop for their favourite brands straight through Instagram.

The new feature is now live in Canada, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Brazil, Australia, and the UK.

Business accounts in the participating countries will have the ability to showcase their products on organic posts, showing a description of the product, the price, a direct link to the product’s website, and of course, how it looks.

For users who find their fashion inspo directly from their feed, it means no more guessing or trying to Google product names on a whim.

Big name retailers such as Kate Spade and J. Crew have been some of the businesses to run early testing on the feature.

You can find more information on the newly expanded feature on Instagram’s website.
