The Lantern and Garden Festival, ILLUMINASIA, presented by Sinopec Canada will light up the grounds in the Calgary Zoo every Thursday through Sunday starting September 17.
The festival is designed to create a multicultural experience from China, Japan and India for everyone who participates. During the festival there will be 366 hand crafted lanterns scattered around the Zoo.
The authentic Chinese lanterns are constructed to mimic the animals that are in the Zoo like tigers and penguins, and other animals that are culturally symbolic, such as the crane, and iconic, like the phoenix.
