Fiancé of former Ms. Vancouver named Sexiest Man in the World
British actor Idris Elba has just been named People Magazine’s Sexiest Man of the Year.
The 46-year-old, who rose to fame as Stringer Bell in the HBO series “The Wire,” recently starred in “Luther” and “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.”
He is engaged to former Ms. Vancouver Sabrina Dhowre. Elba met his fiance in Vancouver last year while he was in town filming the movie “The Mountain Between Us” with Kate Winslet.
He proposed to Dhowre in February, getting down on one knee on stage at London, England’s Rio Theatre before a screening of his film “Yardie.”
Dhowre, 29, was crowned Ms. Vancouver in 2014.

Elba’s new title was revealed last night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The acclaimed actor took to Twitter to say he was “honoured” by the title, but urged his American fans to vote in the midterm elections in the US.
“Who’d have thought it! Thank you people and all the fans for naming me #SexiestManAlive. I’m honoured and thankful. What’s even more important is your vote in the midterm elections. Your vote can make a difference!” he wrote.
The Brit is People’s 33rd Sexiest Man Alive, joining the ranks of fellow hotties Chris Hemsworth, David Beckham and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Country singer and “The Voice” host Blake Shelton won in 2017.
Elba is the second Black man to capture the honour: Denzel Washington was named sexiest man of the year back in 1996.
