The hottest hot springs in the Canadian Rockies is now open in Alberta

If you’re looking for a warm escape, the hottest hot springs in the Canadian Rockies have just opened for another season.

Miette Hot Springs, nestled inside of Jasper National Park, the pools are open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the last entry at 8:30 p.m.

The natural hot spring water flows from the mountain at 54°C; the water is then cooled to a comfortable temperature of 40°C as it enters the hot springs pool.

Parks Canada added that entry is first-come, first-served. Advance and online ticket sales are not available. Single entry pool admission for an adult is $19.75, while senior and youth admission is $17.25. Children under the age of three get in for free.

A reminder that from June 19 to Sept. 7, 2026, Parks Canada will be offering free entry to national historic sites, national parks, and national marine conservation areas. Regular fees still apply for experiences and services not covered by the National Park Pass, such as pool admission at Miette Hot Springs.

The history of the springs is quite extensive, beginning in the 1800s when First Nations people introduced members of the Hudson’s Bay and North West Companies to three hot springs located on Sulphur Creek, a tributary of Fiddle River.

In 1934, the increasing popularity of the hot springs in Jasper National Park prompted the construction of a proper road and a permanent aqua court with facilities similar to those found at the Banff Upper Hot Springs. Built as a depression unemployment relief project, several hundred men worked on the construction, which was completed in 1938.

In 1986, the construction of a new facility about a kilometre from the original building began. The old ruins of the original bathhouse still stand for those who wish to walk up the valley to see the source of the hot springs, according to Parks Canada.
