A high-octane burlesque and wrestling show slams into Calgary this weekend
High Performance Rodeo is well underway across Calgary, and there’s a ring-shaking event that you’ll want to add to your calendar this weekend.
Miss Rita’s Lucha VaVOOM, presented by the High Performance Rodeo, is happening at the WinSport Event Centre on Saturday, Jan. 24.
According to festival organizers, Miss Rita’s Lucha VaVOOM is one of the most requested shows in High Performance Rodeo history.

“The most fun you’ll have at a night out – a delightfully wild mash up of lucha libre wrestling, burlesque, drag, comedy and chaos,” High Performance Rodeo told Daily Hive.
Miss Rita’s Lucha VaVOOM is described as a world “where masked wrestlers fly, burlesque queens, slay, and the crowd is one tequila shot away from speaking in tongues.”
Expect to see high-flying lucha libre stars, hilarious performers, and more throughout the one-night-only event.

The festivities will be hosted by Mimi from Blind Date, performed by Rebecca Northan, and local drag superstar, Karla Marx. And get there early because there will be a Cantina and music before the action begins.

The 40th annual High Performance Rodeo features dozens of theatre, dance, comedy, and music performances all across Calgary. It’s the largest festival of its kind in Western Canada.
