All aboard! This summer, don’t just learn about the past – experience it. Heritage Park’s Historical Village is opening its 62nd season on May 16, and guests will be able to immerse themselves in a little slice of history.
The Historical Village aims to highlight the skills, trades, and people who built the prairie communities we call home, with opportunities to explore blacksmithing, printing, farming, small business operations, and more.
What to expect at Heritage Park
Because the best way of learning is by doing, several hands-on attractions from previous iterations are back by popular demand. These include the Badlands Dinosaur Dig, where Alberta fossils are just waiting to be unearthed; the Antique Midway, an early-1900s carnival with restored turn-of-the-century amusement rides; and classic activities like wagon rides and farm animals.
There will also be cultural activities and seasonal events taking place throughout the summer, including National Indigenous History Month programming, Music in the Plaza, Markets in the Plaza, and more.
And what’s a trip to Heritage Park without a little locomotive action? The beloved steam train has departures about every half-hour, and if you’re called by the sea (er, river), the S.S. Moyie paddlewheeler will be cruising along the Glenmore Reservoir every day.
62 years of the Historical Village
There’s so much to see and do this summer at the Heritage Park Historical Village, and at the heart of it all is the idea that happiness comes from spending time together, learning something new, and creating lasting memories with family and friends.
The Historical Village will be open daily from Saturday, May 16, to Sunday, Aug. 30, and weekends only from September through Oct. 12. Admission ranges from free for infants (Ages 0-2) to $39.95 for adults (Ages 16+), with free admission for annual members. Senior tickets are $31.95 (Ages 65+) and children tickets are $27.95 (Ages 3-15).
Get in on the festivities by attending the Heritage Park Historical Village Opening Day & 62nd Season Launch on May 16, and get ready for a day of hands-on activities, live demonstrations, and interactive experiences for all ages.
