Heat warning in effect for Calgary and Southern Alberta this week

The hot summer weather rolls into this week and has prompted Environment Canada to issue a special heat warning weather statement for Southern Alberta.

Temperatures in Calgary are expected to reach a high of 30°C on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with a low of 15°C. It will be even higher in Lethbridge with a high of 35°C and low of 15°C.

“Daytime highs exceeding 32 degrees Celsius in extreme southern Alberta and temperatures exceeding 29 degrees Celsius through south-central regions combined with overnight lows in the mid teens are expected,” reads a statement from environment Canada.  “At this time these conditions are expected to persist through Wednesday and possibly into Thursday for some areas.”

Over the weekend we may see some rain from Friday to Sunday, with a 40% to 60% chance of showers.
