Health Canada issues recall for several hand sanitizers
Health Canada has recalled three additional hand sanitizer brands that contain industrial-grade ethanol which has not been authorized to use in sanitizers in Canada.
The industrial-grade ethanol in the products contains impurities that are not found in the type of ethanol that’s usually used in hand sanitizers, Health Canada said in an advisory posted Saturday.
“Frequent use of these products may result in dry skin, causing irritation or cracking,” says the recall warning. “Since industrial-grade ethanol has not been approved for use in hand sanitizers in Canada, the Department has not reviewed it for safety or efficacy.”

Health Canada advises people to stop using the hand sanitizers immediately, and either safely dispose of them or return them to the store for a refund.
