'To Kill a Mockingbird' author Harper Lee dead at 89

Pulitzer Prize winning novelist Nelle Harper Lee has passed away in her hometown of Monroeville, Alabama at the age of 89, according to multiple reports from the U.S.

Lee is best known for her critically acclaimed 1960 novel To Kill a Mockingbird. She did not release another novel until July last year when she released Go Set a Watchman.

Lee was the youngest of four children. After graduating high school, she attended Huntingdon College before transferring to the University of Alabama where she studied law, but didn’t complete a degree.
