Calgary’s brewery scene has exploded in the past few years, so there’s plenty of beer to go around.
One of the best ways to enjoy freshly brewed beer is by taking it home straight from the brewery in growlers – (usually) glass containers ranging in size that can be resealed to keep in all the deliciousness.

We’ve put together a list of spots around town to fill up your growler – and we won’t blame you for stopping for a pint while you’re at it.
The Brewer’s Apprentice
What: With an astounding 34 different drinks on tap available for growler fills –yes, that includes ciders – The Brewer’s Apprentice is sure to appease even the pickiest of craft beer enthusiasts.
Where: N3 Building, 448 8th Avenue SE, Calgary
Hours: Noon to 9 pm Monday through Thursday, noon to 10 pm Friday and Saturday, and noon to 6 pm on Sunday
Brewster’s
What: It may seem like just a pub, but this watering hole also offers 6 packs, growler fills, and kegs.
Where: 100 11 McKenzie Towne Avenue SE, Calgary
Hours: 11:30 am to 11 pm on Monday, 11:30 am to midnight on Tuesday through Thursday, 11 am to 1 am on Friday and Saturday
Whole Cellars
What: Whole Cellars is exactly what its name promises; a store fully stocked with beer, wine, and spirits. They currently have six growler fill options on tap, including a cider option.

Hours: 10 am to 11 pm Monday through Friday, 10 am to 10 pm on Saturday and Sunday
Oak & Vine
What: With growler bars in two locations in the city offering different craft beers at each, Oak & Vine has a wide selection – you just may need to rotate between the two spots to try them all!
Where: Inglewood – 1139 9th Avenue SE, Mt. Pleasant – 1030 16th Avenue NW
Hours: 10 am to 10 pm
5 Vines
What: Don’t let the name trick you, it’s not just wine here! The liquor store also has beer and spirits, and a full growler bar for delicious fills. Happy hour is from 4 to 9 pm.
Where: 218 12th Avenue SE, Calgary
Hours: 10 am to 11 pm
Banded Peak Brewing
What: One of Calgary’s newer additions to the brewery scene, Banded Peak offers a wide variety of beers for those beloved growlers.
Where: 519 24th Avenue SE, Calgary
Hours: 3 to 9 pm Wednesday and Thursday, 3 to 10 pm Friday, noon to 10 pm Saturday, and 1 to 6 pm on Sunday

What: Currently offering six choices on tap including a cherry sour and an oyster stout, this brewery is not afraid of trying something new.
