All the free things to do on Alberta Day over the September long weekend

It’s almost the September long weekend, and with it comes Alberta Day, and there are plenty of free events to celebrate the occasion.

Alberta Day is Monday, Sept. 1, but any towns and cities across the province will be holding free festivities from Friday, August 29, to Monday, Sept. 1.

Alberta Day in Edmonton

The Alberta Day event in Edmonton is free for anyone to attend, and will be held on Sunday, Aug. 31, at the Alberta Legislature.

  • Legislature Building tours: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., last tour starts at 4 p.m. | Legislature Building

Alberta Day in Calgary

The Calgary Alberta Day event will be held at Celebration Field at Heritage Park on Sunday, Aug. 31. The event is free, but you must register for tickets through Heritage Park.

In addition to celebrations in Alberta’s two largest cities, there will be festivities held in towns, cities, villages, and counties across the province, including Red Deer, Spruce Grove, Grande Prairie, Fort McMurray, Fort Saskatchewan, Chestermere, and Okotoks.
