The Calgary Flames have recalled four (!) players from their AHL affiliate in Stockton today.

Forwards Hunter Shinkaruk, Emile Poirier, Derek Grant, as well as defenceman Brett Kulak have joined the Flames ahead of tonight’s game against the Arizona Coyotes. Forwards Garnet Hathaway and Freddie Hamilton were sent back down to the Heat in the process.

Shinkaruk was acquired by the Flames last month in a deal that saw Markus Granlund head to the Vancouver Canucks. Since being acquired, the Calgary native has 10 points (5-5-10) in 14 games with the Heat. He has played in just one NHL game in his career, which came earlier this season while with the Canucks.

Poirier, a first round pick by the Flames in 2013 – two picks ahead of Shinkaruk – has 28 (11-17-28) points in 56 AHL games this season. The 21-year-old from Montreal has played six career NHL games, all coming last season.

Grant is having a fantastic season with the Heat this year, scoring 45 points (27-18-45) in just 36 games. The 25-year-old former fourth round pick has appeared in nine games with the Flames this season, failing to register a point.

Kulak is a 22-year-old defenceman that has appeared in six games with the Flames this season. He was a fourth round pick by the Flames in 2012 and has 12 points (3-9-12) in 53 AHL games this season.
