Flames defenceman Jyrki Jokipakka got some good news on Friday, as he was named to Team Finland’s roster for the World Cup of Hockey.

Jokipakka, joined Mikko Koskinen, Sami Lepisto, Ville Pokka, Sebastian Aho, Erik Haula, and Patrik Laine as the final seven players named to Finland’s entry.

The 24-year-old Jokipakka joined the Flames at the trade deadline in February, as part of the Kris Russell trade. He had 6 assists in 20 games with Calgary down the stretch.

The 6’3″ defenceman last played for Finland at the World Hockey Championships last year.

Finland doesn’t have the best team on paper, but they are a plucky nation that always seems to perform well at best-on-best tournaments.
