Now more than ever you want to know where the food on your plate is from.
Now you can have that experience in true Irish style with Fionn MacCool’s new sustainability-focused food menu that offers a “#GoodFoodPromise.” The highly-anticipated menu offers a wide array of wholesome dishes, all of which align with the restaurant’s emphasis on sticking to its community roots.
And that means the pub now sources its beef from Canadian-owned Beretta Farms, chicken raised by Canadian farmers and Ocean Wise, sustainably caught cod.
Daily Hive teamed up with Fionn MacCool’s to show you six of their best new menu items that you need to try.
In Ireland, fish and chips are commonly associated with a Friday feast. But now you can enjoy this yummy dish any day of the week at Fionn MacCool’s. With chunky fries, a drizzle of lemon, a side of coleslaw, and some tartar sauce, you get an authentic fish and chips meal experience. Another heartwarming detail: the fish served at the Irish pub is Ocean Wise approved, meaning it’s been caught sustainably.
This new menu option means you can get maximum nutrition in a flavourful salad, made with Canadian-sourced ingredients. Mixed lentils and more on a bed of kale is all you need for a light, summer mid-day, or late evening meal. Oh, and it’s delicious, too.
Tacos for lunch or dinner wins every time. And now you can order yummy chicken tacos on the new menu at Fionn MacCool’s. Taste three crunchy tacos filled with fresh pulled chicken, cilantro-lime coleslaw, mango salsa, and fresh lime cream sauce topped with a little hot Sriracha. What’s also cool is that the chicken used in all tacos has been raised by a Canadian farmer too.
Order this delight at Fionn MacCool’s and rest assured that you’ll leave the pub happy as Larry. Choose how you want the eight ounce Beretta sirloin bavette grilled, and bite into the beef served with sautéed mushrooms, grilled tomato and fresh-cut fries. Oh, and all beef served at Fionn MacCool’s is now sourced from Canadian-owned Beretta Farms, made without the use of antibiotics, added hormones or steroids.
If you’ve worked up an appetite, try the ‘flagship bacon burger’ and you won’t be disappointed. This creation has hand-cut, smoked bacon piled high on top of a seven ounce Beretta beef patty and topped with the pub’s famous chips for some crunch. This mega dish comes with sliced hothouse tomato, lettuce, and grainy mustard mayo. Oh, and an added smoked bacon skewer because bacon means business.
Try something different with this cod filled sandwich. It consists of two pieces of crispy buttermilk-breaded Ocean Wise cod, double-stacked with sliced tomato, rainbow slaw, and iceberg lettuce on a toasted ACE Bakery bun.
But that’s not all you can eat on the brand new good food menu at Fionn MacCool’s. Think waffle’d up chicken fingers along with crispy calamari, and you’re on to something good.
So, if you didn’t before, you now have numerous reasons to hit up Calgary’s best Irish bar. Have a toast with a pint in true Irish style and know you’re doing good because Fionn MacCool’s is donating 50 cents from every Mill St. organic pint sold to local charities.
