New evidence has come to light in the fatal hit and run from earlier this month.

According to a release from the Calgary Police Service, the hit and run that was reported on Wednesday, May 13 on 52nd Street near the interchange at 16th Avenue NE took the life of a 15-year-old boy.

Ibaad Yar had been driving in a 2010 Dodge Journey at a high rate of speed when his vehicle was struck from behind by a 2008 Buick Allure, the CPS release states.

He crossed over the centre median, was ejected from the vehicle, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Buick allegedly stayed at the scene for a short while before fleeing, and the vehicle was found, unoccupied, in the Saddleridge area later that day.

Police are now trying to locate the occupants of a Chevrolet Tahoe who are believed to have been in the Saddleridge area prior to and following the incident.

“These people are believed to have knowledge of the incident said Staff Sergeant Colin Chisholm of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit in the release.

“The actions that night has led to tragic consequences and we remain committed to uncovering how this all came to be.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Calgary Police Service’s non-emergency number of 403-266-1234.
