With the weekend approaching, you’re probably thinking of fun things to do for both you and your littles ones. Well, we’ve compiled a list of fun things to do this weekend that will be fun for people of all ages.

Here are 10 family friendly events happening this weekend in Calgary.

Calgary Baby and Tot Show

  • What: A fun and interactive event specifically designed to put everything you need all under one roof. We have local and national exhibitors present, showcasing the latest in technology, apparel, furniture, products, and toys to assist parents and caregivers every step of the way, from babies to school age and everything in between. Interactive workshops and seminars, from today’s leading authorities will be available to provide you with valuable insights and presentations on raising a family. Parented play areas, arts and crafts and ongoing entertainment for the whole family!
  • Where: BMO Centre – 20 Roundup Way SW, Calgary
  • When: Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3; 9:30 a.m to 5:30 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Junior JUNOS

  • What: A family-oriented musical concert featuring the 2016 Children’s Album of the Year JUNO Award nominees where even the smallest music fan will get the chance to walk the red carpet!
  • Where: John Dutton Theatre – 616 Macleod Trail SE, Calgary
  • When: Saturday, April 2; 10 a.m.

Alberta Ballet presents: Romeo and Juliet

  • What: One of the pinnacles of 20th century ballet, Romeo & Juliet captures the tragic tale of Shakespeare’s starcrossed renaissance lovers with astonishing grace and heartbreaking intimacy. One of the best loved works of Artistic Director Jean Grand-Maître, the ballet is set to the musical genius of Sergei Prokofiev – whose composition has been referred to as the greatest ballet score ever composed – and will be played live by the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra.

  • When: Saturday, April 2; 2 p.m.

Michaels Kids Club Crafts

  • What: Let your kids explore their creativity while you shop for fun crafty stuff to take home! Kids three and up can enjoy a quick project and take home a finished masterpiece. Sign up in store or online, or just drop in. Only $2 per child reserves 30 minutes for your creative kid. Sessions starting every half hour between 10 and 11:30 a.m. on Saturday mornings. See a store associate to join the fun! Parents must remain on premises during the event.

Cineplex Family Favourites

  • What: Join us on Saturday mornings at 11am for Cineplex Family Favourites. Watch a family favourite film each week for only $2.99. A portion of the proceeds goes towards supporting Free The Children. It’s a fun and affordable way to enjoy the weekend with your family! This Saturday’s film is The Peanuts Movie.

Dinosaurs Alive!

  • What: Dinosaurs Alive returns to the Calgary Zoo this March! Travel back to prehistoric times and get up close with all 16 animatronic dinosaurs. Not only do these dinos look just like the real thing, they move and sound like them too! This is an immersive paleontological experience not to be missed.
  • Where: Prehistoric Park at the Calgary Zoo – 1300 Zoo Road NE, Calgary
  • When: Daily, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Drop-In Gymnastics at Southland Leisure Centre 

  • What: Fitness and fun for the whole family in Southland Leisure Centre’s gymnastic hall. For all ages. A certified instructor is present to assist.
  • Where: Southland Leisure Centre – 2000 Southland Drive SW, Calgary
  • When: Sunday, April 3; 3 to 5 p.m.

Path of Miracles

  • What: Come experience a wondrous musical pilgrimage with Luminous Voices – Calgary’s professional chamber choir. Written in 17 separate vocal parts, British composer Joby Talbot’s “Path of Miracles” is an exciting hour-long musical journey. This a cappella work is based on the most enduring route of Catholic pilgrimage – the great Pilgrimage to Santiago – with the four movements titled with the names of the four main staging posts of the Camino Frances.

  • When: Sunday, April 3; 3 to 4:15 p.m.

Family swim at Southland Leisure Centre

  • What: From 8 a.m. to noon each Sunday, families can enjoy all the aquatic facilities at Southland Leisure Centre, in a family environment. Kids are not admitted without an adult at this event, nor are adults admitted without a kid. Start your Sunday off right with some fun, exercise and family time!
  • Where: Southland Leisure Centre – 2000 Southland Drive SW, Calgary
  • When: Sunday, April 3; 8 a.m. to noon

Safari Sunday Brunch at The Calgary Zoo

  • What: Join us each Sunday for a unique Calgary brunch experience. Brunch is held in the heart of Destination Africa. You can enjoy both gourmet and comfort breakfast foods, including a free-flowing chocolate fountain with fresh fruit, eggs benedict with Canadian bacon, a Belgium waffle bar, cooked to order omelettes, and much much more.
