Presented by the Calgary Arab Arts & Culture Society, Arab Film Nights 2016 features eight films from Arab filmmakers, including action movies, comedies, dramas, animations, and more.
On the Bride’s Side (2014)

This documentary follows a Palestinian poet and an Italian journalist as they help five Palestinian and Syrian fleeing war in Syria complete journey to Sweden – and hopefully avoid getting themselves arrested as traffickers – by faking a wedding.
From A to B (2014)

This comedy film features the story of a young soon-to-be father going on the road trip he and his deceased friend never got to go on, and leaving his very perturbed and pregnant wife behind.
Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet (2014)

After 12 years of exile, Almustafa is ready to come home, bringing his housekeeper and her daughter with him, and only the authorities – fearful of Mustafa’s words – stand in their way. On the journey, he is stopped by a group of people with whom he discusses various philosophical topics through poetry including love, work, freedom, marriage and good and evil.
