
A fan attending Saturday’s game between the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames suffered a “medical emergency,” the Oilers have confirmed.
The fan collapsed on the stairs at Rogers Place, Sportsnet’s Louie DeBrusk said on the broadcast. The game was paused for several minutes while the fan was tended to and eventually transported to hospital in Edmonton.
There was a long delay at the start of the 1st period between the Flames and Oilers due to a fan experiencing a medical emergency in the stands.

In a statement released by the Oilers on Sunday afternoon, the team expressed gratitude to everyone that helped out during the emergency, including emergency services personnel, OEGSE staff, and surrounding fans.
“During last night’s Battle of Alberta game at Rogers Place, a fan experienced a medical emergency and was attended to by emergency personnel, OEGSE arena and team staff and fans. The game was paused to allow the time and space needed to attend to the fan and prepare them for transport to hospital,” the Oilers said.
“The Edmonton Oilers and OEGSE are grateful to the emergency services personnel, our OEGSE staff and the fans who assisted in attending to this emergency. Our thoughts and prayers are with the fan, their family and loved ones and we wish them a speedy recovery.”
