Donald Trump would be bad for Canada, say most Canadians (POLL)

A new poll has found most Canadians think US Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump would be bad for Canada if he became president.

You know, that guy who has said he wants to build a wall, ban Muslims and generally keeps spouting more and more outrageous policies.

So no surprise there then.

The online poll by Insights West surveyed 1,002 Canadians between August 1 and August 4, and found 78% believed it would be bad for Canada if Trump won the election.

That’s a 16% increase since the progressive research company first asked Canadians how they felt about a President Trump one year ago.

According to the poll, the groups most concerned about a Trump victory were women (78%), those aged 55+ (79%), British Columbians (90%) and NDP voters (92%).

Only 13% of Canadian respondents said Trump would be good for Canada.

As for Canadians’ views on Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, she fares better in the survey results – although doesn’t escape criticism either.

While only 27% of respondents said they thought she would be bad for Canada, the number believing she would be good for Canada was still a minority, at 47%.

So it seems Canadians are fairly sure “making American great again” might not be so great for Canada – but they’re not entirely “with her” either.

Oh well, you know what they say. Never believe the polls.
