The renowned outdoor dinner party returns to Calgary on Thursday, August 11.
For the fourth consecutive year, Calgary will host Dîner en Blanc, the annual secret affair. 1500 of Calgary’s foodies, fashion, and cultural enthusiasts will take over an undisclosed public space with the location being revealed only minutes prior to the event.
“Our city has become host to some amazing cultural events, and Dîner en Blanc continues to be one of them,” says local co-producer Tyler Rygus. “This year we are really elevating the experience with a variety of local artist [sic] and entertainment.”
Guests must be dressed in all white and will gather at one of the city’s most beautiful settings for the evening. Each guest brings their own gourmet feast, table, chairs and table setting. If you aren’t the cooking type, you can purchase food from local award winning chef, Sean MacDonald, the Executive Chef at Market Restaurant.
Some timeless traditions to be aware of are the waving of a cloth napkin to mark the beginning of the dinner and the lighting of sparklers to let guests know they are now free to mingle and dance.

Dîner en Blanc first launched in Paris in 1988 by François Pasquier. Le Dîner en Blanc has become a worldwide phenomenon now celebrated on five continents. Over 6000 guests have attended the Calgary event over the past four years.
