Devonian Gardens closing again this summer for repairs

The City of Calgary revealed today that the downtown oasis indoor park will be closing for repairs July 18, 2016.

Devonian Gardens, which went through a major $37 million renovation in 2012, will be closing mid July but will hopefully reopen for Calgarians this winter.

“We have some warranty issues in our planter beds,” said Doug Marter, manager of Capital Development for Calgary Parks, in a news release issued Wednesday. “Additionally, The CORE has some lifecycle and maintenance work that needs to be completed. We have opted for a full closure to allow us to work more quickly and nimbly rather than a longer partial closure through the winter.”

All current bookings in the park will be honoured as there is no work planned on the east side where private events are held. The gardens famous Koi fish will remain in the park ponds undisturbed by work in the gardens.
