Darkness into Light Calgary fundraising walk

Dec 19 2017, 11:20 am

Darkness into Light is an annual international fundraiser held by Ireland based Pieta House. Eight years ago, Pieta House – a crisis intervention service in Ireland for those struggling with suicidal thoughts and/or self-harm, started the walk to raise awareness and support for those in need.

Last year, Pieta House partnered up with Distress Centre Calgary to bring the walk to YYC, and over 200 people participated. The two organizations hope to raise the much-needed funds for mental health awareness and suicide prevention in the city and around the world.

Participants will make their way around Prince’s Island Park on a 5 kilometre route. The walk starts at 5 a.m. and will finish just as dawn begins to break. In support of the event, the Calgary Tower will be yellow all day.
