Czechia trolls Canada in locker room after World Juniors upset

When Canada picked its goal song for the 2025 edition of the World Juniors, they likely had visions of it ringing throughout Ottawa’s Canadian Tire Centre after their final game of the tournament.
Though not everyone was a fan of the tune, the simple “na-na-na-na-na” to the tune of the track “Live is Life” made it pretty easy for just about anyone to sing along.
But it turns out that picking a song that is catchy and recognizable can backfire pretty quickly.
As you’ve likely heard by now, Canada lost 4-3 to Czechia on Thursday night in the quarterfinals of this year’s event, signalling an early exit from the tournament at the hands of the same opponent for the second year in a row.
And despite only scoring twice on the night, Canada’s goal song could definitely be heard in the arena following the game, but there was just one catch.
You see, it was actually the Czech players who had a little fun at the expense of the tournament hosts, with TSN uploading a clip of the victors singing it following the win.

After three gold medals (and a silver medal) in every edition from 2020 to 2023, Canada finished off the podium in consecutive years for the first time since 2013-2014, where they finished in fourth place both times.
Czechia advances to Saturday’s semifinal to take on the Americans, while Finland and Sweden face off in the other matchup.
For now, all eyes are on 2026 for Canada, when the team travels to Minneapolis and St. Paul for next year’s edition of the World Juniors. The tournament returns to Canada in 2027, when Edmonton and Calgary will play host.
While we don’t know exactly what the roster construction will look like for those tournaments, we can only hope that Canada picks out a goal song that won’t get them trolled should they find themselves having another early exit.
