Alberta reports 59 new cases of coronavirus, one additional death

A total of 59 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Alberta, officials reported on Saturday, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the province to 6,157.

The total number of active cases in the province currently sits at 1,837.

Another person has now died as a result of the disease as well, bringing the provincial total of coronavirus-related deaths to 116.

The latest figures include 4,161 cases in the Calgary zone, 509 cases in the Edmonton zone, 226 cases in the North zone, 97 cases in the Central zone, and 1,140 cases in the South zone.

57 people are currently being treated in hospital, 14 of whom have been admitted to intensive care units (ICU).
