Alberta reports 72 new known cases of coronavirus, one additional death

A total of 72 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Alberta, officials reported on Saturday, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the province to 6,587.

Another person has now died as a result of the disease as well, bringing the provincial total of coronavirus-related deaths to 126.

The latest figures include 876 active cases in the Calgary Zone with 3,553 recovered, 60 active cases in the Edmonton Zone with 446 recovered, 17 active cases in the North Zone with 196 recovered, 13 active cases in the Central Zone with 85 recovered, and 111 active cases in the South Zone with 1,078 recovered.

A total of 60 people are currently being treated in hospital, eight of whom have been admitted to intensive care units (ICU).
