Dog owners, rejoice – Connaught Park’s new off-leash areas have officially opened as of Thursday afternoon.
A big community celebration took place to mark the occasion, with off-leash ambassadors on-site to chat with park users and answer any questions they may have.
Here’s the final design concept for the newly opened off-leash area:
The city says the new space will offer “dogs and their owners a one-of-a-kind urban off-leash experience” in the heart of Calgary. The park is fenced to allow dogs to explore freely. It will include the grassed diamond-shaped area on the east side of Connaught Park.
The introduction of an off-leash area in the park came as a means to attract more people to the park, as the city felt as though it was underused.
