12 concerts in Calgary to check out in February

From legendary rockers to francophones and country superstars, Calgary’s biggest concerts this month feature some incredibly talented artists – many of whom are Canadian.

Black Sabbath

Legendary English rockers Black Sabbath kicked off The End tour on January 20, and already the band plans to extend their tour to 2017. The band’s final tour, led by none other than Ozzy Osbourne, includes 60 shows all over the world six of which are right here in Canada.

Propagandhi

Winnipeg vegan punk rockers Propaganghi are on tour this month and are stopping in with old school punk band Belvedere. If you grew up listening to punk in the late 90s, this is one line up you won’t want to miss.

Yukon Blonde

Kelowna babes Yukon Blonde hit the charts last year with their single Saturday Night, and they are hitting the road in the upcoming weeks. Their coast to coast Canadian tour hits our fine city this month.

Another Canadian band on tour this month is 54-40. In action since the early 80s, the British Columbians’ latest album, La Difference: A History Unplugged, is something of a greatest hits compilation and with it comes their cross-Canada tour.

Peking Duk

These boys say it best when they say “Peking Duk not only tastes good, but it sounds even better.” Aussie producers/funny duo Peking Duk hit the stage in Calgary this month with their extreme high energy show that is bound to be a highlight of your February/Valentine’s Day.

The Sheepdogs

In 2011, The Sheepdogs made global headlines when they became the first unsigned band to make the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. Ever since, the Canadian bearded boys from Saskatoon have recorded two studio albums, including 2015’s Future Nostalgia, and have been touring regularly.

Coeur de Pirate

Quebec-born Beatrice Martin, or Coeur de pirate, has broken language barriers and gained international fame since her debut in 2007. With five studio albums and two Juno nominations, Martin’s beautiful French tunes can make anyone sing along en Français. Practice your French and catch her show in town this month.

Brad Paisley

Country superstar Brad Paisley is bringing his Crushin’ It World Tour to Calgary this month, with Eric Paslay and Cam. The award-winning American musician has 10 studio albums to his name, and will hit town later this month with a highly anticipated setlist that will definitely make his fans happy.

Classified

Nova Scotia rapper Classified released his fourth major studio album Greatful in January, with the first single “No Pressure” featuring Snoop Dogg. Probably one of the biggest names in Canadian hip hop, Classified, aka Luke Boyd, has sold-out many of his upcoming tour dates already. Don’t miss this.

The Trews

More East Coasters are heading our way this month. The Trews return to Calgary as part of their short acoustic tour in select theatres across Canada. In support of their tour, the band has re-issued their 2009 release Friends and Total Strangers, complete with previously unavailable tracks.

Treasure Fingers

Get ready to get your dance on with Atlanta DJ/Producer Treasure Fingers. The deep house/electro DJ, who’s singed to Fool’s Gold Records, is a remix legend and an original producer extraordinaire. Expect heavy bass and gritty melodies at the Hifi Club!

Morgan Page and Borgeous

A massive EDM (and very handsome) double bill hits Flames Central later this month. American producers Morgan Page and Borgeous are both individually known for their progressive house and electronic bangers, and these two are bound to put on an unforgettable show.
