Community-funded nacho restaurant coming to Inglewood

Nacho lovers: a new restaurant dedicated to the dish is coming to Inglewood this summer.

With a name playing on their address, 1212 9th Avenue, Madison’s 12 l 12 will offer 12 varieties of nachos and 12 varieties of salads, in addition to breakfast items, and a range of beverages, including coffee, cold-pressed juices, craft cocktails, craft beer, and wine.

Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Madison’s will offer both a dine-in menu (available over a tablet ordering system at each table), as well as items to-go. Vegetarian and paleo options will also be provided.

Community-driven, this coffee/co-work space/eatery project is presently being community-funded (not to be confused with crowd-funding). Rather than donating, people can make an investment in the restaurant.

Madison’s alternative financing structure will award those who make a $5000 investment with a name inscription on a chair in the restaurant, plus the ROI (return of investment) noted in the presentation, says one of the people behind the eatery who asked to remain anonymous, as to not take away from the community-focus aspect of the business.

Determined to support and give back to the community, Madison’s is planning to donate a wad of cash (around $20,000) annually to a chosen charity.

Currently still an office space, the Inglewood locale will undergo a complete overhaul. Local General Contractors Ryan Murphy are executing the renovation. Kate Allen and Cait Hampshire from RAD Architecture will then work their magic to create a beautiful room with a relaxed, almost L.A. vibe.

The restaurant will boast 75 seats inside, and 49 seats on a south facing patio, which will remain open for 10 months of the year, thanks to heaters and a retractable glass awning.
