Parts of a town just outside of Calgary are turning into a movie set this week

Cochrane is about to get a little more action-packed over the next few days, with filming set to take place in the town and bring some unexpected sights and sounds.

According to the Town of Cochrane, film production activity is taking place at the Cochrane Lions Event Centre on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1; filming is also planned for other spots in Cochrane on Sept. 2.

The Town says residents and people near the Lions Event Centre may hear sounds of simulated gunfire or notice actors in tactical or police-style clothing as part of the production. It also notes that firearm props and replica emergency vehicles may be seen.

“Anyone who notices filming activity in these areas should be aware that it is part of a scheduled film production and not an emergency,” the Town says

On Sept. 2, filming is hitting the streets, with production activity expected on Carolina Crescent and Mountain Street after 6 p.m., and on 4th Avenue to the Texas Gate after 6 p.m.

Anyone driving in that area could run into slight traffic delays, including rolling traffic stops of approximately five to 10 minutes at a time while filming is underway.

The production received all the needed approvals to film, including a noise exemption approval and notification to the RCMP.

While the Town has not revealed what is being filmed, Alberta currently has several productions underway, including the fourth season of My Life with the Walter Boys, season 20 of Heartland, and The Magnificent Seven.
