Jason Kenney made an appearance at a live-streamed press conference on Tuesday to announce new public health measures for the province in the face of the ongoing pandemic.

Included in these new restrictions; a ban on indoor gatherings, a limit of 10 on outdoor gatherings, a limit of 10 for funerals and weddings (with no receptions allowed), and a number of new rules for businesses and services throughout the province.

The City of Calgary issued its own release shortly after the announcement.

“The City of Calgary supports all efforts to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 to save lives and protect the healthcare system,” the release states.

It also noted plans to release more information on what this means for Calgary’s city-run facilities and how the City will work with the province to enforce the new orders.

Calgarians have been asked to familiarize themselves with the new requirements and can expect an emergency alert with details on the new restrictions coming on Wednesday afternoon.

“The City acknowledges how difficult additional restrictions are for individuals, families, businesses, and the mental and economic health of our city, but we encourage Calgarians to adhere to all public health guidance as we work together to reduce the threat to our health and our health care system,” states the release.

A full list of current public health measures can be found on the Province of Alberta’s website.
