Business Strategist

Salary: $47.01 – $62.84 per hour

Some details about this job: As a Business Strategist with Calgary Housing (CH), you will be responsible for the development of a strategy for affordable housing development and service delivery, providing comprehensive and timely analysis, strategic advice and policy recommendations to CH’s executive leadership team, CH Board, City Administration, CH’s shareholder (City Council) and other interested parties. Some primary duties include leading the creation and development of strategic and business plan initiatives by analyzing information on affordable housing issues and trends, funding and borrowing programs, and identifying opportunities to maintain and increase the supply of affordable housing and associated services.

Design and Development Technologist

Salary: $42.62 – $56.97 per hour

Some details about this job: The Design and Development Technologist will be responsible for designing, evaluating, and providing comments and expertise on projects and programs pertaining to waste management facilities infrastructure. Primary duties include examining and recommending construction cost estimates, specifications and drawings, reviewing functional designs, developing and evaluating design alternatives, and conducting field investigations to ensure designs accommodate current circumstances and upcoming needs.

Lift Stations – Pressurized Utility Operator

Salary: $39.06 to $43.29 per hour 

Some details about this job: Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor, Lift Stations or the Foreman, Lift Stations, the Pressurized Utility Operator is responsible for ensuring that the storm and sanitary lift stations are in continuous operation. Some primary duties include following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to operate and maintain the Lift Stations, conducting routine inspections, troubleshooting, and reporting identified issues to the area foreman, inspecting, testing, and troubleshooting the operation of generators, slide and backwater valves, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) units and alarms at pumping stations.

Recreation Leader – Fall Programs

Salary: $17.31 to $21.39 per hour 

Some details about this job: As a Recreation Leader within Recreation and Social Programs or Parks and Open Spaces, you will be responsible for leading programs and activities while supervising participants in children and youth programs. Such programs may include general recreation and/or social programs, special events, day camps and after-school programs. Some duties may include working collaboratively with the team and assisting in the development and implementation of meaningful cultural program plans and activities, being a positive role model while mentoring participants and volunteers, and ensuring the safety and supervision of participants.

Director, Climate and Environment

Salary: $228,000 – 285,000 per annum

Some details about this job: As the Director of Climate and Environment, you are the senior leader responsible for both the operational and strategic aspects of the business unit, reporting directly to the General Manager of Planning & Development Services (PDS). You will lead a team of highly skilled professionals to shape and promote the City’s vision for sustainability, climate resilience, flood and drought mitigation, food security, and contaminated site remediation. Duties include providing environmental leadership through planning and policy development, program implementation, partnerships, and managing aspects related to the environment, including watershed management, biodiversity, contaminated sites, and environmental assurance and reporting.

Waste Management Engineer, Composting Facility

Salary: $135,800 – $169,700 per year

Some details about this job: As a Waste Management Engineer, you will oversee the ongoing contract management for the Calgary Composting Facility, ensuring that the City’s interests are met, both environmentally and financially, throughout the operation of the facility. You will provide in-house subject matter expertise in composting, anaerobic digestion and organics program delivery. A Waste Management Engineer will oversee daily activities of the facility operator, including the odour management program, equipment monitoring, and building maintenance. The engineer will also manage facility wait times, feedstock contamination, and residuals, and monitor and assess contractor performance, addressing issues as they arise and enforcing contract terms.
