Christopher Hyndman, co-host of the CBC’s hit TV show Steven and Chris, has died.

“It is with profound sadness that we share the news Christopher Hyndman died early this morning,” said a memo distributed to CBC staff today.

A post on the Steven and Chris Facebook page said the following:

“It is with profound sadness that we share the news Christopher Hyndman died early this morning. We extend our deepest sympathies to Steven, family, friends and colleagues; our thoughts are with them all.”

The show has been pulled from scheduling.

Both Canadian born, Steven Sabados and Hyndman partnered together in 1992, creating the design company The Sabados Group. They combined entertainment and design through DIY appearances on different home décor shows before becoming hosts of HGTV’s Designer Guys in 2001. From there, they hosted Design Rivals in 2003 and So Chic with Steven and Chris in 2005, becoming household names and featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

In 2003, the duo wrote a best-selling book “Designer Guys: Finding Your Personal Style” and went on to launch their own line of furniture textiles, decorative accessories and area rugs in 2007.

In January 2008, Steven and Chris debuted on CBC, giving audiences tips and trends on home décor, health and beauty, food and entertaining and more. The show received such rave reviews that it was syndicated in the U.S. market.
